At the far tip of Bozburun Bay there could be found one of Turkey’s truly unique small hotels. It had over the past few years started showing its age, but which was acquired by a businessman from Istanbul at the beginning of 2007. He set about a substantial renovation and now everything has changed except the name. The rooms have been expanded and refurbished in a highly contemporary style, and all the floors have been reboarded. A large platform has been built over the sand, there are well-tended plants, and even a luxurious yacht. The kitchen is extremely clean and of five star quality, presided over by a new cook retired from the Çırağan Kempinski who has completely changed the menus. There is a good bar and a TV in the lobby. Some of the rooms even come with a jacuzzi. In summary, we have before us a very different Sabrina Haus.
The beauty of the sea is still the same, and the view makes you feel as if you are standing at the edge of the world. If you ring them at your arrival point they will still send a car to collect you. No sound is to be heard except the whirr of cicadas. There is a delightful garden, but the hotel has now more the flavour of Bodrum Turkbuku and its jet-setting lifestyle - we can doubtless expect to see it in interior design magazines this summer. For someone who gets bored with the noise of Türkbükü but who also wants to live surrounded by the same style and comfort, this could be a good place to escape to. Those who seek the spirit of old will need to look somewhere else.
