The hill country south of Bolu is an area of flawless rural beauty. Bright green meadows spread around the fenced cow farms; the dark firs alternate with leafy woods that turn a dazzling red in October. A pretty mountain road, more like Vermont than Turkey, branches from the halfway point of the Ankara-Istanbul motorway to Lake Abant; it continues to Mudurnu on the softer, and much less travelled, south side of the mountain.
The Değirmenyeri Houses fit the landscape perfectly. They hide in a remote fold of the hills near Mudurnu, outside a village that smells of cow-dung and fresh grass. It is not really a hotel in the professional sense, but rather a cluster of comfortable cottages in stone and timber in a farmyard populated by chicks, ducks, goats, cats and a friendly giant St Bernard. The host is a young urban refugee who knew city life was over for him on the day he stumbled upon this faraway valley. He carries his collections of Keith Jarrett, Thelonius Monk and Chick Corea along, cooks well, and offers hopitality in a pleasantly understated manner.

 | All of our houses have central heating unit. We have regular hot water and wireless but there is no TV.PLEASE DO NOT BRING FOOD AND DRINKS because you can find everything you want in our restaurant. Our prices include breakfast and dinner. We love children but we do not love the families who do not take care of their children. In case of not disturbing our other guests, you can bring your pets with you. Best regards, Ulvi ILGAZ.

For Friday and Saturday, 2 nights-2 adults cost 440TL
